Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provisions switch subscriber side and trunk side translations
  • Insure all customer orders are built correctly in the switch within a timely manner.
  • Provision servers for VoIP (CLOUD PBX) platform
  • Configure PoE Switches and IP phone sets for all CLOUD PBX deployments
  • Configure Adtran 900 & 600 Series routers for all Voice and Data installations
  • Monitor switch alarms for correct operation and utilization.
  • Perform switch preventative maintenance and diagnostics
  • Open trouble tickets with switch manufacture on critical issues when necessary.
  • Interact with vendors, customers and other CLECs when working on resolutions to troubles.
  • Assist with upgrades and card replacements on the Softswitch
  • Assist with R&D in the lab for new product development
  • Test with Field Technician on all voice installations.
  • Support Provisioning department on all LNPs and customer configuration questions
  • Handle escalated trouble tickets from NOC and Customer Call Center
  • Must be available for switch “on-call” service
  • May also be asked to assist with other departments such as the NOC, Field Installation and Network Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Minimum work experience of 4 years installation / maintenance working with a Class 5 Voice Switch on translations, hardware, and software.
  • Experience must include the ability to provision line side translations; evaluate switch call traces; monitor system alarms; diagnose circuit packs; perform preventative switch maintenance; and have working knowledge of DS0/DS1/DS3 testing formats and procedures
  • Experience working on VoIP (CLOUD PBX) platforms preferred
  • Working knowledge of the following protocols is a must: PRI, SIP, MGCP, TCP/IP, RTP, VoIP and G.711 & G.729 compression codecs
  • Experience working with tiered support and with LEC on installation issues for facilities and trunks
  • Working knowledge of DMS-500 or Soft-switch Line Side provisioning & maintenance, required
  • Working knowledge of DMS-500 or Soft-switch Carrier Side routing, preferred
  • LIDB & E911 data transfer knowledge, helpful.

Education:

  • College Degree or equivalent training, required.
