Circuit Provisioning Specialist

Principal Function:

The Circuit Provisioning Specialist is responsible for designing, ordering, and testing circuits from LECs like Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and Windstream. This person maintains lines of communication with our various LEC partners to ensure timely delivery and turn up of circuits. This person also ensures disconnects are submitted and processed promptly.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Place orders for LEC and broadband circuits via ASR thru LEC/CLEC proprietary systems, keep track of critical dates for circuit installations, and keep multiple data entry systems up to date
  • Design and build customer WAN circuits through all proper network facility assignments based upon product type
  • Perform circuit acceptance testing and advanced troubleshooting
  • Disconnecting circuits in a timely manner to minimize company costs.
  • Maintain accurate customer database records including circuit facility assignments, IP address assignments, and edge router configuration information
  • Maintain accurate status of assigned circuit orders and process orders in a timely manner
  • Support on escalated trouble tickets from Network Operations and Customer Service
  • Work with our dispatch team to support site surveys when circuit testing is involved.
  • Assist with special projects and after-hours maintenance as assigned by department manager.
  • Communicate well with provisioning, network operation center, and voice engineering departments

 

Status and Scope:

  • This position reports directly to the manager of Network Engineering.
  • The Circuit Design specialist works closely with the Provisioning, Service Delivery, and Network Engineering departments to ensure timely customer turn-ups.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred with 0-2 years experience or 3+ years equivalent experience in circuit provisioning/design/networking
  • Knowledge of design and engineering of telecommunication network circuits
  • Some knowledge of Cisco IOS, Adtran IOS, IP routing, and layer 2 concepts such as VLANs is desirable.
  • Understanding of LOA/CFA and knowledge of secondary connecting or customer facilities assignments
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks, apply good judgment, and work independently
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills
